On the edge of the Yorkshire Dales
Brompton Lakes is located just outside Richmond, commonly known as the ‘Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’, a historical market town, with a Norman castle, Georgian architecture, a large cobbled market place, museums, monuments and abbeys, the fast flowing River Swale, breath taking views and wonderful scenery.
Situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Richmond is a town which inspires painters and poets, past and present…
There are plenty of things to do, see and eat in Richmond and we recommend grabbing a bite to eat at La Piazza or Richmond Grill and Brasserie, before strolling down to watch the latest movie at the Station Cinema, where you can watch your film with a glass of wine and no overpriced hot dogs in sight!
A mile West of Brompton Lakes lies the historic village of Easby, which is home to Easby Abbey, a ruined monastry open to the public. The Abbey, which is situated close to the River Swale, is a brilliant place to go for a picnic; and is the best place for hide-and-seek ever!
