Halloween is a frightfully fun time of year for all ages and although this year may be slightly different, there is still lots of fun and frightening events happening in North Yorkshire this Halloween.

The cold weather is creeping upon us, so get wrapped up warm, grab your broomsticks and brave the witches, ghouls and monsters dancing through the darkness outdoors, socially distanced of course!

Are you brave enough?

Here are our top 3 spooky events happening this half term in Yorkshire, perfect for a family day out:

Thorp Perrow

It’ back and beware, as they aim to scare. This ever-popular Spook-tacular Trail at Thorp Perrow takes visitors through the woods to seek out the spooky skeletons, ghosts and ghouls who have made it their home this Halloween. Dress up in your best Halloween costume and pick up a trail when you arrive which will guide you through the woods, starting at Bog Garden to Dead End Cemetery with lots of spooky surprises along the way!

There is so much more to explore at Thorp Perrow, with acres of stunning woodland to enjoy the Autumnal colours and jump in the leaves as well as meeting exotic birds and animals, including daily flying demonstrations and meeting the meerkats on Meerkat Island.

Thorp Perrow, Bedale, North Yorkshire DL8 2PS, only 20 mins from any of our holiday homes in Richmond or Leyburn.

Peepo Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin picking is a great activity for all ages this Halloween, and something to entertain the kids this October half term. Escape to the Yorkshire countryside, where the leaves are turning but more importantly, the pumpkins are growing! New this year, only a short broomstick ride from Holly House Farm and Woodcroft Cottage is Peepo’s Pumpkin Patch, with 1000’s of perfect pumpkins to choose from. Get your wellies on and take your wheelbarrow and to pick your favourite, before heading to the barn to get creative and watch a carving demonstration so you can carve a spooky face in your own pumpkin before taking it home. After tiring yourself out playing in the park or whizzing around the fairground rides, you can also enjoy a marshmallow banquet in the barn, grab a treat in the cafe, or fill up with a hog roast!

As the darkness falls, the illuminated trail will brighten your evening with a magical trail to meet pumpkin-munchkins, diablos, and ghosties!

Gruesome Grub

This gruesome grub from Bettys is a wicked enough reason for us to gather up our gaggle of six ghouls, put our feet up in front of the fire and keep all tricks outdoors… Our favourite has to be the marzipan covered chocolate sponge with oozings of chocolate buttercream.
