Set in the charming market town Richmond, North Yorkshire, this Grade II listed period house dating from the 1700s was been completely refurbished in 2019. The house is finished to the highest standard throughout and equipped with all the modern conveniences you need in a luxury dog-friendly holiday home in Yorkshire.

From the cobbled street, step inside to wonderful high ceilings and a perfect balance of modern living and Georgian features. The shaker-style kitchen looks out over the courtyard. It's well-equipped with everything you need for a self-catering break in Yorkshire; a large fridge freezer, separate wine fridge, radio, and dishwasher. Make sure to bring along your favourite coffee for the Nespresso coffee machine. Fire up the electric Aga, perfect for baking or making Sunday lunch with the gang using produce bought at the weekly Richmond market. In the separate dining room, gather around the large antique table for a family meal.

An impressive staircase leads up to the first-floor sitting room. Lounge into the sumptuous sofas and chairs in front of the open fire, or pop on the TV for a lazy afternoon after a walk in the Yorkshire Dales. There's space for everyone to come together, and the warm soft colour tones make this a peaceful room to retreat to.

Outside, the South facing courtyard is a sunny spot for evening cocktails. Relax on the outdoor seating or cook on the BBQ. In the courtyard, the den is a fun hideaway with a traditional-looking electric fire and comfy leather chairs, a fun space for the kids to retreat to. Outside is the wood store and a brazier that can be fired up all year round.

There is a handy ground floor WC. In the cellar, you'll find the utility room and a travel cot and highchair available for young families.

The first-floor bedroom features a large period window looking over the courtyard. This delightful master room in natural shades with touches of colour has plenty of storage, a sumptuous king-sized bed, and original shutters giving it plenty of character. When you wind up the staircase to the second floor you'll find two further bedrooms. The larger bedroom has an original fireplace, a king-sized bed, and looks out over Frenchgate and the hills beyond. The third bedroom is smaller, with an angled ceiling, traditional wooden beams and a cosy double bed. All beds come with high-quality bed linen, hypoallergenic pillows, luxurious throws and cushions to guarantee a blissful nights' sleep

The spacious modern bathroom has a large slipper bath, where a whole evening could be spent in pure relaxation. Beyond the bath, the window offers views over Frenchgate and the Richmond hills beyond. There is a separate large walk-in rainfall shower.

Arrive at this luxury holiday home in Richmond to a locally sourced welcome hamper. A starter pack of items under the kitchen sink and in the washroom, where there's a washing machine, dryer and iron, will get you going. In the kitchen is a fridge freezer, dishwasher, electric Aga, and Bluetooth radio. The wi-fi stretches around the house, and bed linen, towels and toiletries are included. On-street free parking is right outside, available on a first come first serve basis. There is additional paid parking nearby, and the local car park is free overnight and on weekends. Porte House is a twenty-minute drive to Northallerton train station and once in Richmond, there's plenty to do on foot.

On your family holiday in Yorkshire, please ask for a complimentary cot or high chair which are available on request. Up to two dogs are welcome. Just the two of you? As a couple, receive a discount when using just the master bedroom. And for groups, why not combine Porte House with the five-bedroom 30 Frenchgate just over the road.

Set on a cobbled street in Richmond, there are three steps up from Frenchgate into the hallway of Porte House, which is set over three floors. The west-facing enclosed garden is at the rear of the property of this luxury dog-friendly holiday home.

On the ground floor, the dining room is at the front of the house neighbouring the well-equipped kitchen. There is a ground floor WC, with a boot store and coat racks. Downstairs is a cellar, where you will find the utility room.On the first floor is the large sitting room. There is seating for six people around the lovely open fire.

On the first floor is the master bedroom, which looks out to the garden. This has a king-sized bed, a dressing table and plenty of storage. The house bathroom is spacious, on the second floor. Relax in the fantastic free-standing bath, or use the separate large walk-in shower. On the second floor, Bedroom 2 has a king-sized bed, large wardrobes and a wonderful decorative fireplace. Bedroom 3 is cosy with a double bed and a large chest of drawers. In this wonderful old house, the wooden beams support the angled ceilings making part of this bedroom below head height.

On your luxury break, take in some of the local sights and the fantastic North Yorkshire pubs and restaurants locally. It is a few minutes’ stroll into the heart of Richmond or to idyllic riverside walks. Explore Richmond Castle, the museums, the large cobbled marketplace, and the thriving shops, pubs and restaurants.

For dinner, Rustique has delicious French cuisine or for a relaxed evening try No.29 for ales, gins and tapas just down the road. As Saturday is market day in the centre of the Market Place, be sure to pick up a few local Yorkshire products before you head home.
