It’s fair to say that the events of this year have scuppered many an international holiday plan, but it’s not all doom and gloom! ‘Stay-cations’ have helped us to appreciate afresh what our stunning countryside has to offer. It also means we can dust off our green credentials as we reap the environmental rewards of staying local.
Sustainable Lakeside Lodges in North Yorkshire
For many guests planning a holiday, sustainability and a ‘green’ approach is high on their list! If that’s an important element for you, here’s the lowdown on our Brompton Lakes lodges in North Yorkshire…
Sustainability and respect for the local environment were at the heart of the development of the Brompton Lakes lodges just outside Richmond, North Yorkshire and that ethos is as strong today as ever. Each of the 21 lakeside lodges was built with ground source heat pumps. The lodges are dotted around two lakes where local wildlife including geese, swans, ducks and herons make themselves at home, roaming freely around this natural setting. Many guests, making the most of their balconies for a morning coffee or an evening drink, may also be lucky enough to spot moorhens, kingfishers and even otters!
A connection to nature is a welcome result of a stay at the lodges. As you explore the lakes you may find yourself wandering down to the River Swale just yards from the lodges, where kids will love to paddle and throw rocks in the burbling water on the private ‘beach’!
Dogs are always welcome at our pet-friendly Brompton Lodges and will relish the beautiful 2.5 mile walk to the market town of Richmond, which will take you through woods, across lush fields and past the stunning ruins of Easby Abbey.
Bikes are supplied free of charge and guests are welcome to explore the setting at their leisure and take advantage of the outdoor tennis court, for a change of pace! A bespoke pizza van, making wood-fired pizzas, which is available Wednesday & Friday evenings every week and is a huge hit with guests who need to refuel before their next adventure.
Inside the lodges, the commitment to sustainability continues. Each lodge is equipped with Weaver Green blankets and throws made from recycled plastic bottles and offers eco-friendly Walter Geering toiletries, made from biodegradable materials.
If you wish to travel further afield, North Yorkshire has oodles of charm and the local countryside is a haven for walkers, cyclists and guests seeking other fun activities. The North Yorkshire coast, 30-minute drive from the lodges, is a treasure trove of pretty villages, cafes and of course, stunning coastal walks.
A warm welcome awaits you at Brompton Lodges. If you would like to find out more about a sustainable break, Plan your 2022 visit today…
