Heating & Hot Water

The heating is timed to come on between 7am to 10am, and 5pm until 11pm. There are thermostats located around the house which you can adjust, and the radiators have thermostats to adjust the temperature. The heating will be switched off during hotter months.

The hot water is controlled through the upper floors control box and it is best to stagger your showers and baths to make sure that the water has had time to reheat.

If you would like the heating adjusted, please contact our reception between 8.30am and 5pm, or out of hours our maintenance team on 07919 451626.

The log burning stove is the best way of warming the lodge quickly and economically, there will be plenty of wood to get you going during your stay. If you run out, please speak to reception. There’s a separate guide on using this.

*Please note: Due to the low temperature nature of how heat pumps operate, the room thermostats need approximately 2 hours to react when adjusted. We suggest setting the thermostats at 20 deg C.

The heat pump also provides hot water. There is enough hot water at any one time for two 5-minute showers, or one shower and one bath. The heat exchanger and pump need about 40-60 minutes to restore the hot water so please stagger bathing and showering to maintain water temperatures.

Gas Fire

To use the gas fire:

  1. Remove the metal grate cover on the front of the fire.
  2. Push the control and turn anti-clockwise until a pilot light is seen. Slowly release the control and turn until you see flames.
  3. To turn the fire off push the control and return to the starting position.

Dishwasher

Dishwasher tablets are located in the cupboard under the sink.

Fridge & Freezer

In the kitchen there is an American Style Fridge Freezer.

To adjust the temperature settings on the Fridge Freezer press the ‘Fridge’ and ‘Freezer’ buttons for the relevant compartments.

To change the Ice dispenser settings between Ice Cubes and Crushed Ice, press the ‘Ice Type’ button at the bottom of the panel and look for the changing icons on the display. Press a glass against the appropriate lever below the dispenser and hold.

Please do not overload the fridge freezer on arrival as this will cause the unit to over heat and therefore your food will not stay chilled which Holiday at Home cannot be held liable for.

Please read the safety information before using the hot tub. Should you have any questions about testing the hot tub please get in touch.

The hot tub will be cleaned out and filled with fresh water on the day of your arrival.  You do not need to empty the water during your stay, there is an anti-bacterial treatment for the water in the hot tub.

The hot tub is set between 37-39 degrees, and you will be able to use the temperature controls to adjust. Please see the control panel on the hot tub, and use the far right hand button to cycle through the programs to operate the jets. When finished, always ensure that the tub is left on auto when not in use. Please note that the tub will not heat when the jets are set to high.

There are lights over the hot tub area, controlled from a light switch.

A lot of factors play a role when heating the water, ambient temperature, weather conditions etc. Keep the lid on the hot tub when heating to conserve the heat. There is a hosepipe in the area for the addition of cold water if you would like to cool it down or need to top up the tub for any reason.

The water is heated by circulating through the system via an inlet and outlet pipe within the hot tub. DO NOT let the water drop below its original level. If necessary, please use the hose pipe provided to top up the water level.

The water is heated via an electric heater. This warms at around 1-2 degrees per hour so the hot tub may not be able to be used until later on the first night.
