Front Door: The door will be locked for security, and the keys should remain in the door during your stay. This is acts as another emergency exit should this be needed.

Gates

The gates will be open on your arrival, should you want them to close you will need to remove the roofing slate away from the sensor which is situated close to the gates on the driveway.

To open the gates use the fob which is in the kitchen on top of the corner cupboard where the tablet is. Holding the fob so the battery compartment is on the left press and hold the bottom button for 2-3 seconds, release and wait for the gates to open. They will close automatically.

PLEASE NOTE IF SOMEONE TAKES THE GATE FOB OUT WITH THEM, PEOPLE LEFT IN THE HOUSE WITH THE GATES CLOSED WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPERATE THEM TO LET PEOPLE IN OR OUT.

PLEASE LEAVE THE FOB IN THE KITCHEN ON TOP OF THE CORNER CABINET.

Your Departure

Kindly depart by the agreed time on your booking confirmation. The housekeeper and their team will need to arrive soon after your departure to clean the house, and they very much appreciate you leaving it tidy and putting the rubbish in the outside bins.

Please ensure you’ve left any keys behind in the allocated place.

PLEASE DO NOT OPEN OR CLOSE THE GLASS DOORS IN THE POOL HOUSE. THE OWNER IS AWARE THEY ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF ARRANGING TO HAVE THEM FIXED. PLEASE SHUT THE GREEN DOORS WHEN THE POOL IS NOT IN USE OTHERWISE THE WATER TEMPERATURE WILL DROP CONSIDERABLY.

Pool Key & Doors

There is a padlock on the green doors for security, the key is on your arrival keys. This is to prevent any children from going in unattended, and we ask you to ensure the doors get closed and locked whenever the pool isn’t in use including at night. This also keeps it nice and warm. The left-hand door opens by pulling down the chain higher up inside.

Pool Lights

The light fob is hanging from a chain to the right as you walk in the doors. Please don’t remove the fob from the chain. The lights are operated by one press for on and one press for off. The lights for the changing room and shower come on automatically on entry.

Swimming Pool Temperature

The swimming pool temperature is kept at the optimum temperature for a heated recreational swimming pool which is 28 degrees Celsius. The air temperature is kept at 27 degrees Celsius to help keep the pool temperature up.

If the doors are left open the air temperature will drop and so will the temperature of the pool. Unfortunately the temperature can not be raised due to health reasons.

Using the Swimming Pool

  • The green doors should be closed behind you, this keeps the heat in and is to prevent any children going in unattended. When not in use please lock the door, including at night. The left-hand door opens by pulling down the chain higher up inside.
  • The green doors in front of the fountain can be opened to let more light into the pool room.
  • The chemical readings in the pool will be taken daily, and the operative will let themselves into the pool house with their own key.
  • The right-hand door pulls open, the left-hand door has a chain inside high up you pull down to open the door.
  • We suggest walking on the paving stones by the hedging for access rather than across the lawn, to keep you clean and avoid bringing mud in.
  • There are plastic glasses in the kitchen for use in the pool.
  • Towels and robes are provided in your room. There are some additional towels in the pool changing room. There is a dryer in the utility room if you need it.

IMPORTANT – Dogs and the Pool

PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR DOG IN THE POOL OR POOL ROOM. Although it might seem like a fun thing to do, letting your dog swim in the pool will make them extremely sick. Dogs will tend to drink the pool water which contains chlorine, this will result in severe vomiting and diarrhoea.

Sound System in the Pool

Unfortunately the Sonos system in the pool room is not available to use due to the sound travelling to the next door neighbours and causing a disturbance when volumes are not kept at an acceptable level.

Pool Rules & Disclaimer

This document is printed in the pool and must be read before using the swimming pool. The swimming pool at Highmoor is unsupervised and guests swim at their own risk. All guests are advised to exercise caution. The house rental agreement includes an agreement to our terms & conditions regarding use of the pool.

Pool maintenance will be carried out prior to check-in, and it will be maintained daily during your stay.

Swimming Pools can be extremely dangerous for unsupervised children and teenagers, as well as adults swimming alone. Swimming pool accidents can happen to anyone, regardless of ability. Therefore, we require that the following terms of use are strictly adhered to.

Sonos Speakers

There are Sonos speakers around the house, and the hub is in the kitchen dresser. You will need to connect to the Wi-Fi on your phone/tablet to use the speakers. Download the (free) Sonos app as this acts as a remote control for streaming music, adjusting volume, and grouping speakers. PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE OLDER SONOS S1 APP RATHER THAN THE S2 APP TO BE ABLE TO CONNECT TO THE SYSTEM.

The area is fantastic for dog owners, with plenty of local walks. For your pet’s safety and for the consideration of the following guests, please be mindful of the following:

  • Please clean up after your dog. Spare poo bags under the kitchen sink and rubbish bins are found outside. If dog mess is not removed on departure, additional cleaning charges by the ground’s maintenance company can apply.
  • Do not allow dogs upstairs, into bedrooms, onto furniture, or into the pool.
  • Please make sure to keep dogs on leads in the surrounding fields with livestock in them. There are often sheep in the fields.
  • Please don’t leave dogs in the house unattended.

IMPORTANT – Dogs and the Swimming Pool

PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR DOG IN THE POOL OR POOL ROOM. Although it might seem like a fun thing to do, letting your dog swim in the pool will make them extremely sick. Dogs will tend to drink the pool water which contains chlorine, this will result in severe vomiting and diarrhoea.

The heating is mainly underfloor and is on a preset timer changed by season so it shouldn’t need altering. The water is set to be on morning and evening, and it can be boosted for an hour in the utility room.

There are room thermostats on the walls around the house with almost one per room. They are occasionally tucked behind chests of drawers or around corners. Once adjusted it can take a couple of hours to heat up, NB turning them up to max temperature will not make it heat up quicker.

Gas Fires

There is a remote control per room, please don’t remove it from the fireplace as each control is matched to that fire. To activate the remote control, it needs to be enclosed in the palm of your hand. The light will come on, and you can then use the on / off buttons.

ONLY USE THE FIRES WHEN YOU ARE IN THE ROOM, DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED.

You will find these through the unassuming door from the kitchen to the right of the patio doors which leads down to the cellar, watch your head on the stairs. Total time in the sauna or steam room should not exceed 20 minutes; too much exposure may result in dizziness, nausea, or fainting.

Please read the full printed instructions & guide before use.

Sauna: The on/off switch is outside the sauna door, to the right of the door. It will take approximately 30 minutes to heat up before use. Please turn off after use.

Steam Room: The on/off switch is inside the door on the right. It will take approximately 15 minutes to heat up before use. Please turn off after use.

The rubbish bins are outside on the driveway under the brick arches. There are bins for general waste and glass which are labelled. These will be put out weekly by the housekeeper.

Ashley and his team come on a Wednesday morning, and we hope he won’t disrupt you. The gardens aren’t fully secured (i.e. escape proof).

We hope you enjoy them. At the back of the house up beyond the roses is the croquet lawn. Thank you for clearing up any mess before departure.

Furniture

Please do not move furniture around in any of the rooms, especially in the room with the TV in the cabinet. Moving furniture can damage casters and create unsightly marks in the carpet once the furniture has been put back in its rightful place.

Chandeliers

Please DO NOT hang anything from the chandeliers. They are very old and are delicate.

Curtains

The sitting room curtains are on a drawstring pulley on the right-hand side of the curtain, please don’t pull them across.

Dishwasher

When setting the dishwasher off turn the power on with the button on the far right on the top of the door then select the program P4 from the far-left button on top of the door, the program selected will be displayed on the digital screen. Close the door and it will start its washing cycle.
