Located at Sun Hill Farm, the Palins is a romantic escape just for two…
This one-bedroom cottage, located just outside of Leyburn, is a gorgeous romantic retreat. Bring your loved one here for a special occasion, or just to break from the ordinary. From the Palins, easily explore the nearby towns as well as the Yorkshire Dales. After a long day out, come back to the cosy garden (just a short stroll along the drive) where you can watch horses train, from Sun Hill Farm racing stables. With open-plan living and traditional features, in the cooler months, you can admire the Yorkshire styles whilst cosied up on the sofa together. The Palins is the perfect bolthole for your next unique stay.
The Palins is a charming country cottage on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales for a couple. Step inside to the open-plan living room and kitchen. Guests can eat from the breakfast bar styled with high leather stools, or head out to one of the excellent Yorkshire pubs or cafes nearby.
This is a perfect cottage from which to experience the beauty of the Dales. After a crisp country walk or a day exploring Leyburn, the roaring log burner awaits. Relax into the comfortable leather sofa, putting the television for an indulgent afternoon film, or relish in a good book curled up in the cowhide armchair. The living room is a cosy and stylish space, with traditional characteristics including wooden beams and an exposed stone fireplace.
In the bedroom, treat yourself to a lazy morning in the large and luxurious sleigh bed. There is a dressing table and plenty of wardrobe space for your stay. There is also space for a cot for young families looking for a luxury escape that is baby-friendly. Adjoining the bedroom is the spacious en-suite wet room with a shower.
This is also a dog-friendly spot, so you can bring a pooch along with you. Along the driveway from the cottage, overlooking the gallops and the Dales beyond, is an enclosed garden area. This is a private and quiet place to enjoy the views with seating and a gas BBQ.
Sun Hill Farm is a fantastic race yard, and guests can even book a tour from the team. This Yorkshire holiday cottage can be booked as a fantastic addition to the neighbouring five-bedroom Sun Hill Farmhouse or the three-bedroom Sun Hill Cottage. Taken all together, Sun Hill Farm is a stunning spot for big group getaways of up to eighteen guests.
There is free wi-fi throughout this Dales cottage. On arrival, enjoy the locally sourced welcome hamper and the log burning stove with logs provided. The digital TV includes a DVD player, and there's a separate sound system with a radio.
High-quality bed linen, towels, and luxury toiletries are supplied. The kitchen is well-equipped for breakfast, baking and Sunday roasts. A dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, iron and ironing board are included, with a washing machine and dryer located in a neighbouring building on request.
The Palins is more accessible ground-floor accommodation. After the first step from the path, the cottage is on one level and there's a wet room. Shared parking is adjacent to the front door on a gravel drive. The garden is set back from the cottage.
When stocking up for food, head to the award-winning Campbell’s of Leyburn; family-run since 1868, it is a supermarket and wine retailer. The village of Constable Burton sits a mile below Sun Hill. For eating out, The Wyvill Arms has a warm welcoming bar and a restaurant. In the area, we also recommend The Saddle Room restaurant at The Forbidden Corner and the delicious award-winning seafood menu at The Wensleydale Heifer.
Leyburn is the closest town, 4 miles from this Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage. The market square offers a range of everyday shopping, furniture, gift shops, inns, and tearooms. Try delicious artisan chocolates from Inspired Chocolate or browse the sales at the well-regarded Tennant’s auction house. The Sandpiper Inn has a dog-friendly bar, and on Friday’s do make sure to visit Leyburn’s weekly market full of local produce.
