Set in the charming market town Richmond, North Yorkshire, this Grade II listed period house dating from the 1700s was been completely refurbished in 2019. The house is finished to the highest standard throughout and equipped with all the modern conveniences you need in a luxury dog-friendly holiday home in Yorkshire.

Step in from the cobbled street into a stylish home with high ceilings and a blend of modern comfort and Georgian charm. The shaker kitchen overlooks the courtyard and is fully equipped for a self catering stay, including a large fridge freezer, wine fridge, dishwasher, Nespresso machine and electric Aga, perfect for relaxed cooking using local produce. A separate dining room with a large antique table is ideal for gathering together.

Upstairs, the first floor sitting room is a cosy retreat with plush seating, an open fire and TV, perfect after a day exploring the Yorkshire Dales.

Outside, the south facing courtyard is a sunny spot for drinks or dining, with outdoor seating and a BBQ. The garden den offers a fun extra space with comfy chairs and an electric fire, while a brazier and wood store make it enjoyable year round.

There is a ground floor WC, plus a cellar utility room with a travel cot and highchair for families.

Porte House is just a short walk into Richmond and around twenty minutes from Northallerton station, making it ideal for both exploring and relaxing.

Travelling as a couple? Ask about reduced rates when using just the master bedroom. For larger groups, Porte House can also be booked with 30 Frenchgate just over the road.

The first floor master bedroom overlooks the courtyard through a large period window and features a king size bed, built-in storage and original shutters, all styled in calming natural tones.

Upstairs on the second floor are two further bedrooms. One is a spacious king size room with an original fireplace and views over Frenchgate and the surrounding hills. The other is a cosy double with sloped ceilings and exposed wooden beams.

All bedrooms are dressed with high quality bed linen, hypoallergenic pillows and soft furnishings for a comfortable night’s sleep.

The family bathroom is bright and spacious, with a large slipper bath perfectly positioned for relaxing evenings, countryside views and a separate walk in rainfall shower.

Yes, Porte House is in a perfect location with only a 5 minute walk in to the centre of Richmond you will find everything you would need. No.29 is a great tapas bar with many different ales and gins to try, making it the perfect night with friends or family.

Is Porte House dog-friendly?
Yes, Porte House welcomes 2 dogs and is in a great location for walking. A three minute walk away is the Swale which guests have said make a good morning routine for dogs.

Is there a hot tub at Porte House?
Unfortunately, there is no hot tub at Porte House but there is a beautiful patio with outdoor furniture making it perfect for you to sit in the sun and enjoy a glass of wine or cup of tea. If you are interested in a hot tub within this location we do have 30 Frenchgate situated across the road.

Is Porte House suitable for a large group?
Yes, Porte House sleeps 6 people across 3 bedrooms making it the perfect size for friends or family. If you are needing more space this property could be booked alongside 30 Frenchgate to accommodate 16 people in total.

Set on a cobbled street in Richmond, there are three steps up from Frenchgate into the hallway of Porte House, which is set over three floors. The west-facing enclosed garden is at the rear of the property of this luxury dog-friendly holiday home.

On the ground floor, the dining room is at the front of the house neighbouring the well-equipped kitchen. There is a ground floor WC, with a boot store and coat racks. Downstairs is a cellar, where you will find the utility room.On the first floor is the large sitting room. There is seating for six people around the lovely open fire.

On the first floor is the master bedroom, which looks out to the garden. This has a king-sized bed, a dressing table and plenty of storage. The house bathroom is spacious, on the second floor. Relax in the fantastic free-standing bath, or use the separate large walk-in shower. On the second floor, Bedroom 2 has a king-sized bed, large wardrobes and a wonderful decorative fireplace. Bedroom 3 is cosy with a double bed and a large chest of drawers. In this wonderful old house, the wooden beams support the angled ceilings making part of this bedroom below head height.

On your luxury break, take in some of the local sights and the fantastic North Yorkshire pubs and restaurants locally. It is a few minutes’ stroll into the heart of Richmond or to idyllic riverside walks. Explore Richmond Castle, the museums, the large cobbled marketplace, and the thriving shops, pubs and restaurants.

For dinner, Rustique has delicious French cuisine or for a relaxed evening try No.29 for ales, gins and tapas just down the road. As Saturday is market day in the centre of the Market Place, be sure to pick up a few local Yorkshire products before you head home.
