The underfloor heating in the kitchen and living room is pre-set, it shouldn’t need altering. If it does the thermostats are on the wall inside the kitchen door, and for the living room opposite the foot of the stairs.

The radiators in the bedrooms are set on an automatic program to come on in the morning and evening. The radiators have thermostatic valves on them which can be adjusted. If the bedroom programs need altering please get in touch as this can be controlled remotely, as long as the program is set to Auto (not manual) on the Hive control on the staircase.

The bathrooms are heated via the towel rails which come on with the heating. Ensure the isolator switch outside the bathroom door and the thermostat on the towel rail is turned on if you need to adjust the temperature.

If you find you are too hot or cold please let us know and we can talk you through adjusting this.

Firstly if you are having problems with either appliance check that the isolator switches are ON either side of the kitchen walls.

To turn the hob on press the power button and then press the illuminated ‘O’s to increase the ring temperatures.

To turn the oven on touch and hold the ON/OFF key until the oven gives a long beep. The function selection indicator on the display illuminates. While the function selection screen is illuminated select the desired function by using the function up & down keys.

To turn the oven off press and hold the ON/OF key until you hear a long beep.

The rubbish bins are at the top of the steps that lead from Frenchgate down to Tate Studies. There is a label saying Tate Studies on the side.

Please separate recycling from the rubbish. Clean plastic, tins and paper can be recycled. There is a separate bin for glass.

You can read more about Richmondshire recycling here: https://www.richmondshire.gov.uk/media/11625/recycle-at-the-kerbside-leaflet.pdf

Richmond is a wonderful dog-friendly area, and from Maison Cottage there are many walks on your doorstep. Our favourites head towards the River Swale and along to Easby Abbey along the river banks to the east of Richmond. You can also head west along the river and try part of the coast-to-coast route into the Dales.

Please be mindful of the following:

  • Please clean up after your dog outside, bagging up any waste and using the external bin.
  • The garden is not escape proof so thank you for keeping an eye on your dog.
  • Do not allow dogs into the bedroom or onto furniture.
  • In the case of the property or grounds needing significant cleaning up, additional charges could apply.
