Sun Hill Lodges is a collection of 13 log cabins with hot tubs, sleeping between 2 and 8 guests, in North Yorkshire. The lodges are located on Sun Hill Farm near the village of Constable Burton and the market town of Leyburn in North Yorkshire, England.

It sits alongside a well-known working horse racing and training establishment managed by trainer Ann Duffield and former jockey George Duffield.

Sun Hill Lodges is an ideal choice for a relaxing countryside break in North Yorkshire, offering comfortable self-catering accommodation in a peaceful rural setting. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, family holiday or a weekend exploring Yorkshire, our lodges are a comfortable base from which to discover the area. Each lodge has a jacuzzi-style hot tub, private garden, and stunning views giving you plenty of opportunities to relax.

Sun Hill Farm is home to Sun Hill Lodges (13 lodges with hot tubs) and Sun Hill Cottages (three larger holiday cottages) – Sun Hill Farmhouse, Sun Hill Cottage, and Sun Hill Palins. All of which sit alongside a fantastic horse racing yard where guests can regularly see the horses training on the grounds.

• Our one-bedroom lodges, sleeping up to two guests are: Rosina, Hunter’s Lodge, Spindrifter, Melody, Lillie.
• Our two-bedroom lodges, sleeping up to four guests are: William, Constable Burton, Pivotal, Alborada, Ninetta, Penhill.
• Our three-bedroom lodge, sleeping up to six guests is Woodlands.
• Our four-bedroom lodge, sleeping up to eight guests is Valley View. (Please note Valley View is only available to book from November to February each year.)

Inside each lodge guests will find a well-equipped kitchen, free wi-fi, a log burner (logs are provided), high-quality bed linen, towels, bath robes, luxury toiletries, a starter pack for the kitchen and a locally sourced welcome hamper.

A cot and high chair are available on request, free of charge in each lodge.

Outside each lodge guests can enjoy a private garden with outdoor seating and a gas BBQ. Please note Pivotal lodge has a charcoal BBQ.

Yes, up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome at all the lodges at Sun Hill Lodges except Valley View.  When walking around the grounds, please keep your dog on a lead due to the neighbouring stables.

Please note that while two dogs are welcome at our one-bedroom lodges (Rosina, Hunter’s Lodge, Spindrifter, Melody, Lillie), they are not well-suited to more than one large dog.

Up to two dogs are welcome at each lodge for an additional £10 per dog, per night (excluding Valley View).

For guests with dogs you’ll find a water bowl, jar of dog treats and a blanket. 

Yes, each lodge has a private, outdoor jacuzzi-style hot tub that can be used year round. Bath robes and towels are provided for guests.

Lillie, William, Rosina, Hunters Lodge, Melody, and Valley View are our lodges with saunas.

Check-in is from 4:00 PM and check-out is before 10:00 AM.

For a change in dates or length of stay, please get in touch, and we will be happy to help.

In the event of a cancellation, a full or partial refund will be given where we can resell the property over the booked dates. The deposit is non-refundable within 4 weeks of arrival, and the balance payment will be refunded if the dates are resold. A cancellation fee will apply to cover the cost of administration and remarketing. You can find out more in our Terms and Conditions.

We highly recommend you take out your own holiday insurance, which can also cover accidental damage during your stay. We do not offer holiday insurance, but there are lots of portals offering quotations online.

Yes, early check-in and late check-out can be arranged at the lodges, however this is subject to availability and for an additional charge. Please contact us within 7 days of arrival, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

There is private parking for two cars at each lodge.

No, there is no EV charging available at Sun Hill Lodges. The nearest EV charging points are:

• Pod Point Charging Station — Richmondshire Walk, Catterick Garrison, DL9 3EN — approx 5 miles from Sun Hill and listed as open 24 hours.
• InstaVolt Charging Station — Catterick Garrison, DL9 3EJ — approx 5 miles away and open 24 hours.

Sun Hill Farm is a well-known working horse racing and training establishment run by former racehorse trainer Ann Duffield and her husband, legendary jockey George Duffield MBE. If you are interested in horses and horseracing you can book a behind-the-scenes tour of the racing yard where you will be introduced to the horses, find out about their day-to-day routine, and if lucky, catch them out on the gallops too. Tours are available every Tuesday and Wednesday. Please get in touch if you would like further details.

In Leyburn, a few miles down the road, you’ll find a good choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants, including the popular Sandpiper Inn and Bolton Arms.

The Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton has an excellent restaurant and The Wyvill Arms in Constable Burton is just a mile away.

For a special occasion we recommend Hansom in Bedale.

There are several supermarkets close to Sun Hill Lodges in North Yorkshire. In Leyburn, you will find the award-winning Campbell’s of Leyburn, which offers a wide range of groceries, fresh produce, and deli items. For larger food shops, Catterick Garrison is just a short drive away, where you will find Tesco Superstore, Aldi and Lidl.

Leyburn, known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just four miles from Sun Hill Lodges. The market town offers a great mix of independent shops, cafés and pubs. Don’t miss Inspired Chocolate, Tennant’s Auction House café, or the weekly Friday market. For essentials, Campbell’s of Leyburn is a well-known local favourite.

There is plenty to explore in the surrounding area, from scenic walks and cycling routes to visits to Jervaulx Abbey and Brymor Ice Cream Parlour. The historic town of Middleham is just three miles away and offers walking routes and the chance to visit the famous gallops.

Hawes, Bedale, Richmond, Harrogate and the Yorkshire Dales are all within an easy drive of Sun Hill Farm.
