Pack your walking boots and wellies for riverside walks and waterfall searching, before enjoying the fabulous choices of family-friendly places to eat and drink in the cobbled marketplace.

Fun and fabulous, this welcoming holiday cottage offers a cosy yet stylish retreat to escape to. With contemporary interiors, the cottage was newly refurbished in 2022 and has all the home comforts needed for a self-catering luxury cottage in Yorkshire. The Old Tack Room has been tastefully renovated with a modern twist, retaining original features such as the exposed stonework and the beams in the bedrooms.

Inside you will be welcomed by a bright open plan living, kitchen and dining area, in shades of greys and blues with eye-catching furnishings. There is a comfortable sofa big enough for the whole group, with a large Smart TV to snuggle up in front of after a day’s adventure exploring. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you could need to rustle up a feast, and the breakfast bar on the kitchen island is the perfect spot for a morning brew. We love the soft greys of the cupboards and the modern white granite worktops with vintage overhead lamps. The dining table opposite seats four, with a window seat for more casual mealtimes. It's a lovely setting to gather together and enjoy a home-cooked meal or put your feet up after picking up some local produce from Richmond's Saturday market.

Upstairs in this luxury cottage you will find two spacious bedrooms with high ceilings providing lots of light. Traditional exposed beams sit alongside subtle soft furnishings and contrasting colourful artwork, all of which brings a touch of character to the cottage. Both bedrooms offer king-sized beds, with soft linen bedding to tempt long lazy lie-ins and breakfast in bed. The sliding stable doors are a bespoke design, and open into the spacious en-suite facilities. Wake up under the large rainfall showerheads in both bathrooms, or enjoy a long soak in the free-standing bath in the 'pink bedroom' which is also perfect for family bath times.

Step out of the front of the cottage into a small open plan outdoor seating area with a bistro table and chairs, alongside two private parking spaces. Make sure you pack your walking boots as there is plenty to discover in Richmond, right from your doorstep of your luxury hideaway!

In The Area

The Old Tack Room is located in the centre of the bustling Georgian market town of Richmond, North Yorkshire, offering the perfect place for exploring all that is on offer without having to jump in the car. The large cobbled marketplace is a treasure trove of thriving shops, pubs and restaurants, with a fantastic Saturday market only a stone’s throw from your door. Walk along the riverside and take in the falls, which are particularly striking after a rainy day. Follow the trail to Richmond Bridge, rewarding yourself with a treat from the award-winning bakery in The Station, a converted Victorian railway building, housing two cinema screens, a café and a brewery.

We also recommend a visit to the ancient Richmond Castle, as well as to the Green Howards Museum where you can learn about the history of the illustrious regiment. Don’t forget your walking boots as there a plenty of walks from your doorstep including the famous Little Drummer Boy route, and the area is a haven for walkers and cyclists.
