Open six days a week and featuring a range of targets to suit all abilities, the ground is open to members and non-members alike. Established in 1988, Thimbleby Shooting Ground is now one of the country’s premier shooting grounds and a short drive from Northallerton, Osmotherley, Thirsk, and Richmond.
Whether you’re a first-time thrill seeker looking to learn how to shoot a clay, or you’re experienced, every now and then we could all do with a reminder of what we’re doing. That’s why Thimbleby offers Shooting Lessons. The team of expert instructors provides coaching for both individuals and groups of people up to 4.

The Clubhouse & Café
After an afternoon or day shooting, there’s nothing better than sitting down and reflecting on your performance over a delicious lunch and drink. Especially when it’s all prepared at The Clubhouse & Café at Thimbleby! Only recently opened in April 2021, it’s one of the main parts of the fantastic facilities that are on site. It’s not only a place for instructors to meet their teams but also a focal point where you can meet your other guests before a round of clay shooting.
Once you’ve experienced all of the different simulated levels, retreat to the Clubhouse to refuel and relax. Thimbleby offers breakfasts, hot and cold drinks, snacks, light bites, and lunches for all the visitors.
