MORE INFO

While staying with us this Autumn, break away from the luxury of the roaring fire in your holiday cottage and visit the pretty village of Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales. En-route and whilst there you will experience some of England’s most scenic views. And they’re all just on your doorstep!

Reeth and its spectacular scenery is only 15-20 minutes drive from any of our Yorkshire holiday cottages and lodges. It is a popular place with visitors to the Yorkshire Dales. The many tea rooms are busy all year round, and a great stop off perhaps after a stroll along the river. Interesting craft shops produce traditional local products, preserving the heritage of the Yorkshire Dales. There’s a spectacular large village green at the heart of the village where a market is held every Friday, which should not be missed!

Well worth the drive...

As you start to head up into the Dale, you’ll see a change in scenery from kerbstones to drystone walls. Drive carefully, you’ll often spot the sheep crossing the road at their leisure; we’ll let you finish the pun of why the sheep crossed the road…

Pop in and visit the Folk Museum to find out about the history of the lead mining industry, in which Reeth was the capital in the 18th century – in its heyday Reeth was producing over 10% of the country’s lead.

If you're a lover of country walks...

From soft grass walks or jumping in puddles, there are many varied walks to be found around Reeth. Take gentle strolls over the Swing Bridge and along the River Swale, or day-long routes for the hardier walker to take in all the scenic views!

Feeling more energetic? Why not take on the summits of Great Shunner Fell, Lovely Seat and Addlebrough from fell running or group hiking are you up for the challenge?

A Warm Welcome...

On your way home, make sure you pop in to The CB Inn for some award-winning pub grub, local ale, and a proper Yorkshire welcome! The changing menu offers local produce, but a hearty lunch could include a beefsteak & red wine casserole washed down with a pint of Black Sheep Yorkshire Bitter; the well-known beer is delivered straight from the Brewery at Masham. For a more sophisticated evening meal, we’ve enjoyed supreme of guinea fowl with confit guinea fowl leg, sweet potato and Madeira jus – YUM! And all complimented by a choice from the CB Inn wine list. Treat yourself…
