Gayles Hall Barns

From the owners of Greenbank Barns, we introduce a stunning duo of self-catering luxury holiday homes at Gayles Hall Barns. Set in the rolling hills of the Yorkshire countryside, they offer the most idyllic retreat for friends and family to come together.

Now transformed into a luxurious bolthole with designs from interior specialists Niche Living, the barns were once dilapidated sheep sheds. These large Yorkshire Dales holiday homes are well located above the rural village of Gayles, near the historic market town of Richmond, North Yorkshire. It is hard not to enjoy the beautiful setting and far-reaching views.

Across both barns are seven superb bedrooms, sleeping groups of up to 14 guests. Sheep Dip sleeps four guests and Shearing Shed sleeps ten guests. Each has super king-size beds and their own unique design. Warm and welcoming from the moment of arrival, inside both large luxury holiday homes you will find a perfect blend of traditional features and contemporary interior design.

Large fireplaces, exposed stone walls, and original wooden beams combine perfectly with Designer’s Guild fabrics and modern kitchens. The abundance of bathrooms include freestanding baths and walk-in showers – the perfect place to retreat to after a day exploring the Yorkshire Dales. For celebrating a special occasion, a family holiday or reunion this is a most sensational location.

Outside…

Gayles Hall Barns are settled in the quiet idyll of rural bliss. At both Sheep Dip and Shearing Shed, enjoy long al fresco lunches around the BBQ followed by an afternoon or evening dip in the jacuzzi-style hot tubs.

Lawns surround the barns, offering unrivalled views across the stunning Yorkshire countryside beyond. Shearing Shed also features a shepherd’s hut BBQ house, our favourite spot for evening sun-dowers.

For stocking up for your stay we recommend a visit to the award-winning Mainsgill Farm Shop; full of local produce it is about 4 miles away. The historic market towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle are both 15-20 minutes away, with many restaurants, bars and cafés to discover. For good local ales, pop to the local pub just over a mile down the road. While only a couple of miles away is the popular White Swan pub, in the picturesque village of Gilling West.

While staying, why not discover the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales with the many walks and cycling routes that start from just off your doorstep. We also know how much fun it is to bring your dog on holiday with you. With miles of Britain’s most stunning countryside at your doorstep, Shearing Shed and Sheep Dip allow two dogs in each, making the perfect luxury dog-friendly holiday homes in Yorkshire.

For guests travelling from further afield, the closest train station is 25-minutes’ drive, and once settled at Gayles Hall Barns you won’t want to leave. For more ideas on what to door in the area, read our Journal or our guides for Exploring.
