Details

A warm and welcoming rural retreat awaits at Wharfe View Cottage, and the location is fantastic for exploring the area around Skipton, Ilkley and the surrounding Yorkshire Dales. One of our three beautifully restored holiday cottages on the Bolton Abbey Estate, the Wharfe View provides modern comforts whilst retaining many of the stunning original features.

Arrive at the cottage and step into the modern kitchen which is well-equipped and features a farmhouse-style dining table for six. The courtyard beyond has a gas BBQ as well as an outdoor dining table, encouraging alfresco dining in the warmer months. To the front of the house is more outside seating.

Inside the cosy living room, velvet sofas and soft wool blankets encourage cosy winter hibernation in front of a roaring log burner. Snuggle up with a paperback in one hand and a glass of smooth red wine in the other. From here, swing open the door leading out to the enclosed garden at the front of the cottage with a large terrace overlooking a pretty landscaped lawn and glorious panoramic countryside views of the Wharfe Valley and beyond.

The house sleeps up to six guests in two spacious double bedrooms and one large twin room. Each has access to its own private bathroom.

One bedroom can be found on the ground floor with a 5' king-size bed, panoramic views of the Wharfe Valley, and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Two further bedrooms can be found on the first floor. Bedroom 2 is a twin room with two 3' single beds and an en-suite shower room, making this an ideal cottage for friends and families. Bedroom 3 has a 5' king-size four-poster bed with a spacious en-suite bathroom featuring a separate shower and bathtub, perfect for soaking in after a day exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Guests will enjoy admiring the picturesque uninterrupted views from the large bedroom windows before starting the day.

The great outdoors won't keep guests inside these pretty walls for long, no matter how sumptuous or the time of the year. To the front of the holiday cottage is an enclosed garden with a lawn, pretty borders and a patio area to enjoy the panoramic views of the Yorkshire Dales and beyond, in perfect privacy and tranquillity.

At the entrance to the rear of the cottage, you will find ample parking beyond the courtyard. Here is a gas BBQ to enjoy alfresco dining in the warmer months around a wrought iron table and chairs.

It is a short walk along the road to the very well-reviewed Brownie Barn at Howgill Farm for breakfast, lunch, award-winning brownies and takeaway pizzas.

Wharfe View Cottage is dog-friendly, allowing two well-behaved dogs (at an additional charge). Families with children and infants are welcome, with a travel cot, high chair and stair gate available on request. The property offers free Wi-Fi throughout.

The modern kitchen has a dining table seating six guests, an electric oven, electric hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, butler's sink and dishwasher, plus a full kitchen inventory for that home-from-home experience. Each of the Bolton Abbey Cottages includes high-quality bed linen, towels, bathrobes, and luxury toiletries. There is a starter pack for the kitchen, fire, and washroom, and of course a locally sourced welcome hamper.

There is off-street parking for 3-4 cars.

Guests at Wharfe View Cottage will receive 1 hour of complimentary spa access to The Devonshire Arms Spa, including using all spa facilities and the new state-of-the-art vitality pool. Pre-booking a time slot for spa access is necessary. Spa day experiences are also available which include treatments, extended use of the spa facilities and lunch. Please get in touch to book.

The driveway offers space for 3-4 cars and leads onto the courtyard and kitchen door at the rear of the cottage. There are a few steps down into the cottage and between the kitchen and sitting room.

The ground-floor bedroom has a brass king-size bed next door to a bathroom with a large corner shower. Upstairs are two bedrooms and bathrooms. Bedroom 2 is a twin room with an en-suite shower, whilst Bedroom 1 has a four-poster bed and the next-door family bathroom has a separate bath and shower.

To the front of the house, the terrace is stone-flagged over a landscaped sloped lawn.
