When you visit, don’t forget your walking boots and ordnance survey maps as you’ll soon embrace the great outdoors. If you prefer more of an amble, wander from the Station along the banks of the River Swale up to another English Heritage site, Easby Abbey. The atmospheric ruins date from the 12th Century; incredibly striking these are definitely worth a visit.
