The Barn and The Workshop create the ultimate Yorkshire escape for groups...

The Barn is a stylish and contemporary self-catering retreat in North Yorkshire, offering a slice of country living on modern terms. One of a collection of luxury hideaways at Pinkney Carr Farm, the Barn by Kip & Nook is an epic homestay nestled in 250 acres of rolling countryside, woodland, gardens and riverbanks. Being a dog friendly holiday home, it's a great house to enjoy with your pooch in tow.

There is plenty on-site that will make you not want to leave, but if you do you're ideally located to go exploring by car or by renting their fully insured picnic vintage car. It is a short drive away from plenty of local attractions, the Yorkshire Dales, the Moors and many great foodie spots.

At the heart of this luxury holiday home is the large social kitchen, combining rustic features such as the vaulted beamed ceilings, hand crafted cabinets, and an Aga, with all the state-of-the-art appliances and modern home comforts needed to cook up a storm. Seating is around the feature kitchen island, and we highly recommend booking The Barn's chef Bea who will prepare your very own Thai feast.

Adjoining is the stylish snug, made cosy with a roaring log burner and a large sumptuous velvet sofa. With soft cushions and throws to snuggle into, sip wine by the fire or enjoy a game of monopoly or a good book. The large wall-mounted television features Sky, with a full package including movies and Sky Sports. Above the snug is a mezzanine bedroom accessed via a ladder. This holiday home with a games room is the perfect place for a family break away.

Through to the hallway, think industrial, design-led interiors with exposed stonework and antiques including a vintage motorcycle. This leads to the bedrooms, each of which are chic with a cosy twist. There is also a spacious boot room with sink; it's also perfect for the dogs, and is somewhere to clean muddy paws after a dog-friendly day out in the Yorkshire Dales.

When the warmer months roll around, fling open the doors onto the enticing private outdoor space with a fire pit, alfresco dining, and a bubbling hot tub. Guests love to soak up the stunning views of the ever-changing scenery outdoors while listening to great music on the indoor/outdoor Bose surround sound system. The large glass doors between rooms inside the house offer plenty of light throughout the year. This is a truly idyllic family-friendly holiday home in Yorkshire.

There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as an additional mezzanine bedroom for two people.

On the ground floor are two spacious bedrooms each with their own unique style. One has a large leather Super king-sized bed, the second bedroom has a king-sized bed, and they share the most stunning family bathroom. A deep free-standing copper bathtub sits on the rustic mosaic tiles, ideal for soaking muscles after long walks in the country. There's a separate large walk-in shower.

Upstairs is the master suite, balancing contemporary and idyllic, romantic and bright. Think natural hues, tassel throws, eye-catching artwork, and the most fantastic walk-in wardrobe. The large en-suite includes a decadent free-standing copper bathtub and a separate walk-in shower. Early nights in this super king-sized bed are essential. Or, curl up in the ultra-comfy hammock-style hanging chair on the private balcony overlooking the courtyard.

The mezzanine bedroom sleeps two in twin beds, hidden above the snug. Throw open the windows and look out through the large telescope and enjoy views across rolling fields beyond. Accessed via a ladder, this room is fun for teenagers or friends sharing; we don't recommend it for young children or guests with limited mobility due to the access and the fact it is not enclosed.

Lap up the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside as you light up the fire pit in the evening, or watch the endless sunsets and spot stars under the moonlit sky. There is a large outdoor table for alfresco dining, as well as a gas barbecue. The log-burning hot tub in the private outdoor space is great fun at any time of day.

From avid walkers to those wanting a casual stroll, guests are welcome to explore the extensive grounds. There's a choice of different length walks on offer through the farmland, woodlands and along the riverbanks.

In the heart of the large estate at Kip & Nook, The Barn sits close to The Workshop. This large shared space which serves the luxury hideaways at Pinkney Carr Farm, is a very cool and relaxed area open every day. Order a pizza and drinks to eat there over a game of table tennis or pool; cocktails, beers, coffees and soft drinks can be purchased from the amazing new bar.

As well as the games room, perfect for all kinds of family fun, there's a small gym with equipment and upstairs a yoga studio for a private or shared class. Yoga retreats are on offer each month throughout the year. Upstairs is also a dedicated workspace and breathing room, available to hire for those needing the peace and quiet.

Start your day the right way with a hearty breakfast to nourish the body and soul, with a menu of eggs, bagels, French toast, and delicious coffee available to order in the new breakfast room.

Enquire about the personalised picnic package to take out for the day in your very own vintage car which is available to rent.

In The Area

There is plenty on offer nearby The Barn North Yorkshire, including two of our favourite local restaurants in the area. Middleton Lodge only 10-minute drive away, offering fine dining, delicious cocktails and gorgeous grounds to explore. Even closer and within 30 minutes walking distance is The Fox Hole at Piercebridge which offers local ales and posh pub grub to impress. Make sure you pop into Piercebridge Organic Farm Shop which offers award-winning free-range organic meat and eggs on a family-run 300-acre farm and pick up a picnic or Ulnaby Farm Shop is also nearby.

Darlington is the closest town to The Barn, with a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants, and pubs. We can recommend a delicious artisan pizza from Stable Hearth in the centre of town. For a local ale and some live music, check out the Forum Music Centre before enjoying some comfort street food from Salt nearby. If you are celebrating, Michelin-starred modern food can be found at the Raby Hunt only a short drive away.
